Roger Binny's conflict of interest accusation was dropped

Roger Binny's Conflict of Interest case has been thrown out. Justice Vineet Sareen, the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) ethics officer, decided in an 11-page decision that Sanjeev Gupta's complaint against the BCCI president is without substance and should be dismissed. He has also given the complainant a severe warning.

Concerning Binny's daughter-in-law Mayanti Langer working for BCCI broadcaster Star Sports, there was a complaint. "I don't think Mr. Sanjeev Gupta's allegation has any merit. Additionally, Rule 38(2) would not apply in this case because the complainant has failed to prove that there is a conflict of interest "As stated in his decision, Justice Sareen.

It is not the complainant's argument that Ms. Langer is involved in the creation, marketing, sales, business, or management of Star Sports, he said. She is moderating panels and hosting live broadcasts for Star Sports. It is also undisputed that Star Sports received the BCCI and IPL media rights on April 5, 2018, and June 27, 2022, respectively. Therefore, it cannot be claimed that the respondent (Binny), who is the president, affected the decision to award Star Sports the media rights. Ms. Langer is simply employed as an anchor by Star Sports on a contract; she is not a worker for the company. It cannot be assumed that there would be a conflict of interest or that Rule (38)(1)(i) would be violated as no incidence of conflict of interest has been documented in her employment with Star Sports in this capacity.

The Ethics Officer added that a conflicting attitude cannot be justified by the mere fact of a relationship. According to the ruling, citing a case against Rahul Dravid as an example, "...the mere existence of a relationship between the respondent and Ms Langer would not be sufficient enough to establish an instance of Conflict of Interest and that it will have to be demonstrated by the complainant that how does the said relationship lead to a compromise in respondent's participation, performance, and discharge of duties."

"Directions have been given by my predecessor in complaint case 4/2020 on 15.08.2022 and 16.01.2021 directing the complainant herein not to put the complaint and other information in public domain and if same was done, it would be viewed severely, including not entertaining the complaint itself," Justice Sareen said about the complainant.

Cricket Betting Legal restrictions

Depending on the nation or location, there are different legal limits on cricket betting. Although cricket betting is prohibited on a federal level in some nations, such as the United States, several states have already legalized sports betting, including cricket betting, and others are in the process of doing so.

Even while betting is theoretically prohibited in some nations, such as India, it is nonetheless a common activity with little enforcement from the government. In these situations, it's critical to be knowledgeable about the rules and legislation in your nation or region and to only place bets with reliable, authorized bookies or betting sites.

Prior to making bets, it is always advised to check for updates and stay educated about the legal restrictions in your country or region because it is crucial to know that rules and regulations governing cricket betting might change regularly.
