In the upcoming ODI series against Australia, Rahul Dravid allayed fears over India's batting and supported Suryakumar Yadav, who has already recorded two first-ball ducks as Shreyas Iyer's replacement at the critical No. 4 slot. A day after Rohit Sharma underlined his leadership philosophy of recognizing potential with a long rope, Dravid vowed for a display of patience for Suryakumar.
"Obviously, Shreyas' injury is unfortunate; he is one of those players we believe will bat for us at No. 4, and he has been given a lot of time there. Concerned less about Suryakumar than anything else. "You have two first-ballers against two pretty good balls," Dravid said of the two Starc deliveries in Mumbai and Vizag bearing Suryakumar's name at speeds of 145 and 144 kmph, respectively.
Suryakumar's batting statistics were glaringly lopsided going into the ODI series against Australia last week. The Mumbai batter has played nearly twice as many games in the shortest format in the 13 years since making his List A and T20 debuts, 242 to 124, with 123 of those games taking place in the IPL at high octane. Dravid is aware of the disparity between the two formats.

"He has played a lot of high-pressure T20 games, but there is no domestic one-day cricket equivalent; you will have to play Vijay Hazare and other things." He has played a lot of one-day cricket, but I don't think he has played a lot of T20 cricket. We simply have to give him a few time and show restraint toward him. Dravid stated, "We definitely see the upside of him doing well, which is very good for the side."
